WESH 2 Orlando TV adds 7pm News

Hearst’s NBC Television affiliate WESH-TV 2 News Orlando, Fl., will launch a new half-hour weeknight newscast at 7 p.m. beginning Sept. 11. “Local news continues to be the most trusted source for information,” said John Soapes, president and general manager. “Adding WESH 2 News at 7:00 p.m. will provide Central Florida viewers with another opportunity to get local news and weather at a time that is convenient to them.” WESH was recently honored with three regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for Breaking News, Sports Reporting and Overall Excellence for Large Market Television. In adding the 7 p.m. newscast, WESH will produce 65.5 hours of local news per week — more than any other local broadcast station in Central Florida, according to the station.

Teri Hornstein will anchor Weekend at WFOR in Miami

Teri Hornstein has been promoted to weekend morning anchor at CBS Miami WFOR-TV.

The promotion comes less than a year after she joined the CBS owned station in September 2022 as a news reporter and fill-in anchor.

Before that, she worked the previous five years at WPEC in West Palm Beach, Florida for five years as an anchor and reporter. She’s also worked at WBBH NBC 2 in Fort Myers, Florida. Hornstein started her career at the station as an associate producer before joining WFXG in Augusta, Georgia.

Fox Weather hits the road

Fox Weather will debut a new segment series on July 13th called Cruisin’ Across America.  It will be hosted by correspondent Robert Ray and will take viewers from coast-to-coast spotlighting areas that have been impacted by major weather events while highlighting the local culture, food and communities.  It will kick off in Jacksonville, Florida and then make stops in New Orleans, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Tucson, Tombstone and finish up in Twentynine Palms, Cabazon and Santa Monica.  Fox Weather in HD is available from TV Video Clips.

Jo Ling Kent joins CBS News

Veteran NBC journalist Jo Ling Kent will be a part of CBS News as Senior Business and Technology correspondent starting later this summer.  She’ll add to CBS television’s existing reporting on global economics and is expected to file stories on everything from personal finance and consumer trends to the Federal Reserve and the World Bank.  She spent six years as a business and techy correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC where she earned the Edward R. Murrow Award and three Emmy nominations.  Kent began her career in Beijing as a digital reporter in the ABC News Beijing bureau and then as an associate producer at CNN.

Jonathan Martin Joins WXIA Atlanta TV

Tegna’s NBC affiliate WXIA Atlanta television has hired Atlanta native Jonathan Martin as a news anchor. He joins the station on July 31 and will co-anchor 11Alive News at 4 p.m. alongside Faith Jessie when the show debuts in September.  Martin joins from KRIV Houston Fox 26 Houston television where he spent seven years as an evening news anchor. During Hurricane Harvey, he was live on the air for more than 20 hours keeping viewers informed as the storm ravaged the Texas coast. He also anchored on-location for notable events in Houston as Super Bowl 51, The World Series, and the funeral for former President George H.W Bush.

Fireworks on TV

Fourth of July Fireworks shows often are broadcast on TV.  Of course, the Granddaddy of them all is NBC Network coverage of the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular.  But there are a number of local fireworks shows on television this year including on Houston TV the 2023 Freedom Over Texas fireworks show on ABC 13 Houston TV KTRK-TV HD13.1 at 8pm, a 2-hour show.  Fox 5 San Diego, KSWB-TV, always does it up big with its Big Bay Boom Fireworks Spectacular starting at 8pm San Diego time.  PBS also does a national broadcast from Washington DC with its annual A Capitol Fourth 2023 featuring musicians celebrating the founding of America and paying tribute to the U.S. military.  WPXI-TV Pittsburgh will show WPXI City of Pittsburgh Independence Day Fireworks at 9pm tonight on Pittsburgh Channel 11 TV.  WJXT-TV Channel 4 Jacksonville television will show the Jacksonville Fireworks Spectacular tonight at 9:30pm.  These shows and more are available in HD!

FOOD Network Diners, Drive-Ins an Dives goes to LA

on Friday 7/7/23 Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives goes to Los Angeles.  Guy Fieri’s diggin’ into hearty helpings – both saucy and stuffed. J.J. Watt Joins CBS Sports

With the 2023 NFL season on the horizon, CBS Sports is beefing up its studio crew by adding former NFL star J.J. Watt.  Watt, a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, has signed a multi-year deal with CBS Sports to serve as an NFL studio analyst across all platforms, CBS Sports announced Thursday.

If you live in Detroit and need help, WDIV, Detroit TV NBC affiliate, has a button for that.  Literally, on WDIV’s website, ClickOnDetroit, in the lower right-hand corner, sits a HELP button. And when you click on it, a dialogue box appears that welcomes you to the ClickOnDetroit Help Desk and invites you to ask a question, promising the station will find the answer for you

House Hunters Family Grillin’ in Kansas City
