NBC’S Boston O&O WBTS has hired Matt Prichard as NBC10 Boston television political reporter. Prichard, an award-winning journalist who has been covering news and politics for more than a decade, will begin his new role on Monday, Aug. 7. Prichard comes to Boston from KUSI San Diego television where he was a weekend anchor and weekday reporter.

Deevon Rahming is joining KHOU 11 Houston television via TEGNA sister-station KARE 11 Minneapolis, Minnesota where he’s a reporter. Rahming joined KARE 11 in January 2020 from ABC 15 News WPDE Florence, South Carolina where he had been a multimedia journalist since December 2017. The Florida State University grad interned with WSB Atlanta television and worked as a production assistant for Fox 4 News WFTX Fort Myers, Florida. The Florida Keys native also worked as a WINK News production assistant while in high school.

Award-winning news executive and producer Meagan Harris has been named vice president and news director at CBS Stations’ local businesses in Dallas-Fort Worth, including KTVT (CBS), KTXA (independent), the CBS Texas streaming channel and CBSTexas.com. Harris, who will assume her new role on Monday, June 5, has spent most of her 20-plus year journalism career working in Texas, including 10 years in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. Most recently, she has served as the news director of NBCLX, a multiplatform national news network that targets millennials and features live newscasts that originate from KXAS, the NBC O&O in Fort Worth.

It’s a tug of war for first place between ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today in the key advertiser demo of Adults 25-54. This development has now extended into the fifth week, with NBC’s morning show emerging victorious in this go around. Today earned its largest lead over GMA in the demo in nine weeks, beating ABC News’ morning show by +42,000 A25-54 viewers. GMA still came out on top in total viewers for the week of May 8. Third place CBS Mornings, for the week of May 8, dropped by -3% in total viewers compared to the previous week to stand at 2.35 million total viewers on average, and saw a double-digit fall of -10% in the A25-54 demo to stand at 490,000 viewers.

ABC News has found its new co-anchors for Good Morning America’s third hour (GMA3): GMA Weekend co-anchor Eva Pilgrim and ABC News Los Angeles-based correspondent DeMarco Morgan. They’ll be joined on GMA3: What You Need to Know each afternoon by Dr. Jennifer Ashton, ABC News chief health and medical correspondent. Pilgrim joined ABC News in 2015 as a correspondent based in New York and has served as co-anchor of GMA Saturday and Sunday broadcasts since 2018.

BBC News has named Caitríona Perry a chief presenter broadcasting out of the Washington, D.C., bureau. She joins fellow chief presenter Sumi Somaskanda in the U.S. capital. Perry is familiar with the D.C. area, having served as the US-based correspondent for RTÉ, Ireland’s national public service broadcaster. Prior to this appointment, Perry was the anchor for RTÉ’s main evening news program and and fronted special event programming. In April, BBC soft relaunched its new single unified news network, the BBC News Channel. The unified news network combined BBC News, a U.K.-focused news channel, and BBC World News, its international channel.

CNN’s Republican Presidential Town Hall with former President Trump ranked No. 1 among all cable news broadcasts Wednesday in both total viewers and adults 25-54, and No. 2 in all of cable, behind only NBA Playoffs on TNT, according to Nielsen live plus same day data. Hosted by Kaitlan Collins, the Town Hall out of St. Anselm College in New Hampshire averaged 3.31 million total viewers from 8-9:15 p.m. ET. Fox News averaged 1.45 million and MSNBC averaged 1.4 million total viewers in the same time period. That said, Wednesday’s event came up short to CNN’s 2020 Joe Biden Town Hall, which averaged 3.465 million total viewers on Sept. 17, 2020.

Two WNBC New York television journalists are being promoted to new roles, starting in mid-June. Current weekend news anchor Gilma Avalos will move to a weekday schedule and co-anchor WNBC’s 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekday newscasts alongside Adam Kuperstein. She will also appear on the 1 p.m. daily edition of News 4 New York, available exclusively on the NBC New York News streaming channel. Veteran reporter and substitute news anchor Rana Novini will move into Avalos’ role as the solo weekend news anchor. She will lead the station’s 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts on Saturdays and Sundays and continue as a general assignment reporter during the week.

José Griñan announced his retirement from FOX 26 Houston Television KRIV after 30 years with the station. The station says he will continue to anchor mornings with Melissa Wilson at FOX 26 until the end of June 2023. “We will certainly miss him,” Wilson commented on the Mike McGuff Facebook page. “What a career,” FOX 26 morning anchor Sally MacDonald posted on Facebook. “Can’t imagine our mornings without him. Congratulations Jose!” Griñan was the first anchor on FOX 26’s morning newscast back in August 1993, back when the studios were located where Central Market is today on Westheimer. He came to Houston from KDFW 4 Dallas-Fort Worth (before it was a FOX station) where he was an anchor/reporter. Griñan’s bio says that he was one of the first journalists on scene of the Branch Davidian siege near Waco. Previously he served as a correspondent/host of “Crime Watch Tonight” and freelance reporter for CNN. Griñan was in Miami at WTVJ 6 Miami TV and WCKT Miami Television (now WSVN 7) with time at the Satellite News Channel in between.
