WDIV-TV Local 4 in Detroit is airing a prime-time special this Friday. Called “Going 4 It: The Inside Story of the Rise of WDIV” the special will air at 9pm. It will feature TV clips of long-ago icons like comedy-dispensing weathercaster Sonny Eliot and legends Mort Crim and Carmen Harlan. It’s all part of WDIV-TV’s 75th Anniversary!

KPRC 2 Houston names Bernice Kearney news director. She was news director at Graham Media’s KSAT 12 in San Antonio previously. Kearney will start on November 21st. She has been with KSAT-TV since 1993, working her way up from producer, senior producer, executive producer assistant news director and then being appointed news director in 2013.

WKMG-TV News 6, the local CBS affiliate in Orlando, is once again innovating the delivery of news and information to its audience by spotlighting — on broadcast television — the content and convenience of their OTT streaming channel, News 6+. On Monday, November 14, WKMG will take over its 5:30 p.m. newscast with new programming called the “News 6+ Takeover.” Starting Monday, instead of a newscast, the audience will be exposed to News 6′s variety of podcasts and longer format journalism.

Rudabeh Shahbazi and Kalyna Astrinos have been named anchors of the new local morning news franchise launching on Los Angeles CBS owned station KCAL and the CBS News Los Angeles streaming channel in December. Shahbazi will join Jamie Yuccas for the 7-10 a.m. portion of KCAL’s planned seven-hour, 4 to 11 a.m. weekday block. Astrinos will anchor KCAL’s 4 to 4:30 a.m. newscast and additionally serve as the station’s morning traffic anchor.
